Well, it’s been a crazy week, but I think it’s finally time to sit down and write about my new home for the next year. Last Sunday, I moved into my first apartment in Fredericton.
I wish I could post a couple of beautiful pictures of what it has become, but I’m quickly learning that filling a place with furniture and cozy decor is a slow process that definitely doesn’t happen overnight (the first of the adult lessons I learned this week). I feel settled and at home in my bedroom, and the rest of the apartment is quite sparse and empty, but that’s OK!
My first week of real “adulting” has been really fun (well, fun and interesting). I’ve learned lots, including that groceries are expensive and you really don’t need all the ingredients in a recipe, just the most important ones 🙂
I’ve also learned that old houses have really creepy basements, and out of those basements come cute little mice! Well, cute from a good distance. That lead me to another lesson: how to catch a mouse (harder than it sounds). I’ve yet to succeed at this one, it’s still a work in progress. I also don’t really mind the mouse because (s)he lives in a cute little mouse hole in the pantry (oh the pantry, my favorite part of the house!).
I will keep you updated on the adventures that I go on while settling into and furnishing my apartment. If you haven’t already seen the post about refinishing my bed frame, check it out here! I hope to do some more DIY’s and decorating, so stay tuned!

Great post! I also just recently moved into my new place and can relate to this on many levels. Adulting can be fun but also a challenge.
