A poppy found among the pebbles on the hills around the Acropolis
If I didn’t already know it as the city of feta and olive oil and delicious gyros, I would call Athens the city of flowers. I can’t get over the abundance of beautiful blooms here!
From stunning pinks, to orange and shimmering blue. Every street is lined with some sort of bloom. Some are cultivated, but some are wild too.
One of the most stunning parts is the amount of greenery and flowers overflowing from people’s balconies. Walking down the street, all you have to do is look up to feel like you’re in the middle of paradise (and not a busy city!)
We visited a little island not far from the city, and, even though we didn’t get to explore a lot of the island, there were some STUNNING trees overflowing with the most gorgeous fuchsia blooms. I could’ve looked at them all day long.
The best part, is that the markets are also full of flowers, AND they’re so so cheap! I think it’s safe to say that we’ll have a fresh bouquet on our table for the rest of our stay!
