Something magical happens when I’m standing amongst baskets of beautiful wool in a yarn store. The possibilities are endless. Your eye is attracted to a colour or a texture on the wall. You feel the need to touch it. Maybe hold it up to your face as you imagine it knit up as a scarf for yourself or a child in need of a warmth as he plays in the snow.
The ball is only temporary, like a bud on a tree in the spring. Or a child as she dreams of the future and what she might become when she grows up. Some might be knit up quickly by the anxious knitter, and some might wait in the stash while the purchaser waits for that special project she knows she will create someday.
It brings me joy to think a pile of random bits of yarn can become a beautiful tapestry, or a few balls of wool can create a gorgeous sweater. I like to think that all will eventually be enjoyed or blanket someone in warmth.
This post was inspired by a challenge to create a photo that says temporary to you…….I don’t consider myself a photographer, but thought my photo was fitting to the theme.
