My whole being is content
The waves tickle my toes
They caress my fingers
Bring new sand to settle on my wrists
And steal the grains from under my palm
Each ripple pulling me closer to the sea
To the never ending ebb and flow
Deep blue in the Atlantic
Shimmering in the Mediterranean
Black as night in the arctic
Water,
the earth’s blood
Feeds the diversity life has to give
Rushing from mountaintops
bubbling deep beneath the ground
back to its home in the sea
Eternal and ever changing
I don’t want to wash away
The salty skin given to me
Because it holds the wisdom of the sea
