The idea behind these quotes is where the nut part of our name comes from. For both of us, this is a new stage in our lives, not the complete beginning, but a new beginning and a time for growth. A chance to grow into something new and different. For me (the daughter), it’s a time to leave home, explore new places, have new experiences, and, in the words of Emerson, create my own forest. Where my mom comes in is where the analogy gets even cheesier; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, the acorn not far from the oak… you get the idea. So, mom is the oak, I’m the acorn.

Now, the nesting part is my mom’s half. She’s an empty nester as off September 2016. I’m home now for a short time, but for the most part she’s getting used to a quiet house, adjusting to her own schedule without the worries of ours, and helping us get used to living in our own nests. In her own words, she says “now I can do what I want, and eat what I want when I want without doting on children or teenagers all day”.

We thought Nesting Nut was the perfect short, catchy phrase that sums up this new adventure. Starting this blog is a way for us to adapt to the way our relationship has changed and continuing finding new ways to bond and create memories. We hope you enjoy Nesting Nut as much as we do!
